What life is like for many of our children

  • Some children arrive at school without having had breakfast.
  • Families may face challenges in accessing nutritious meals, often relying on affordable, processed, or convenience foods.
  • Families may live in overcrowded housing, where children share rooms or beds with siblings and parents.
  • Access to after-school clubs and extracurricular activities may be limited due to financial or logistical barriers.
  • Children have limited access to outdoor space at the weekends
  • Opportunities to travel beyond the local area, or even their immediate neighborhood, can be rare.
  • Some parents may find it difficult to support with home learning or reading, often due to time pressures or language and literacy barriers.
  • Some families are experiencing rising financial stress, which affects multiple aspects of their children’s wellbeing.

School is their safe haven and what we do massively impacts upon their ability to develop into educated, functioning and happy young adults
